Explained: Why India Reported 6148 Covid19 Deaths In A Day

India on Thursday reported 6,148 Covid deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the highest daily death tally since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last year.

However, the death tally was reported so high due to the revised calculations are done by the Bihar government which added previously unaccounted 3951 deaths to the overall tally. If we discount Bihar’s revised toll, a total of 2,197 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

According to Bihar’s health department, as many as 3,951 deaths were added to the toll after verification, putting the state’s toll death toll by the pandemic at 9,429.

After the revises count, Bihar now jumps from 17th to 12th position in Covid deaths among all states and UTs across the country. The additional figures increased the Covid-19 mortality in Bihar by around 42.1%.
