In the biggest daily surge in the Covid cases, India on Thursday recorded 4,12,262 new infections and 3,980 deaths in the last 24 hours, the health ministry said. This was the second time that the tally breached the 4-lakh mark after 4,02,351 infections were recorded on April 30.
According to the data available on the Ministry of Health and Family welfare website, the total death toll is now 23,01,68 while the infection tally increased to 2,10,77,410, while has the total number of active cases in the country has risen to 35,66,398.
A total of 3,29,113 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours after getting cured, the health ministry data added, while 16,25,13,339 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 19,55,733, who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
