Covid 19: Amid Surge in Cases, Delhi Govt Extends Lockdown Till May 3

Amid the rising covid cases and the increase in the positivity rate, Delhi Government on Sunday extended the ongoing lockdown till May 03.

Making the announcement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said: “Coronavirus still continues to wreak havoc in the city. Public opinion is that lockdown should increase. So the lockdown is being extended for one week”.

Kejriwal, however, said essential services will be exempted from the lockdown.

There is a 36 percent to 37 percent positivity rate, which was not there before, the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister added that his government has started a portal for oxygen management, which will record the status of supplies from the manufactures to the hospitals every two hours.

“While we have failed to deliver oxygen at some places, in other places we have succeeded… the situation should be under control in the coming few days,” the Chief Minister said.

The first ‘min lockdown begin in Delhi on April 19 and was supposed to end on Monday (April 26) morning.
