New Zealand Beat India To Clinch ICC World Test Championship

New Zealand are ICC World Test Champions after beating India inside the final hour of a nail-biting reserve day at the Hampshire Bowl, wrapping up an eight-wicket win with a boundary from Ross Taylor.

Notably, the WTC Final was marred by bad weather and rain throughout the match, with Day 1 and 4 getting washed out without a ball being bowled which is why it went to the reserve day.

The Black Caps were outstanding with the ball in the first session on the reserve day which turned the tide in their favour as India got bowled out for a disappointing 170 in their second innings in good batting conditions, after resuming on their overnight score of 64 for 2.

WHAT WILL THE FINALISTS TAKE HOME?

New Zealand will take home the winning prize money of $1.60 million (approximately Rs 11.86 crore) and the ICC Test mace for the first time in history. The Black Caps have also consolidated their position at the top of the ICC Test team rankings as a result of this victory.

Team India meanwhile, will get a cash prize of $800,000 (Rs 5.93 crore) for finishing as the runners-up in Southampton.
